Sacramento Sting

The JV team has played 5 games in the Delta  League in Stockton and won all 5 by large margins so far. We have also been able to bring up some of the 8th and 9th grade players to gain some valuable experience.

Several of the JV girls had the opportunity to play with the Varsity team  this last  weekend at Delta, helping them achieve 2 victories. The Sting
beat the Stockton Mustangs in a very competitive game, finishing with an 8 point victory. In the second game we  defeated the Brentwood Lady Lions by 16 points to finish out the day.
 

           Great job by all of the girls, especially the younger ones.

The Freshmen team played in the Sac Area Sports tournament Aug.16th
competing in the Varsity Division.We came up short again in this upper level but the girls had a very good learning experience, walking away with a 1-2 record. Playing in the Delta League will give them much more experience at this level as well. GOOD JOB GIRLS!!

The Freshman team played in the Varsity division this past weekend at the West Coast National Championships.Despite a losing record, they were tied in one game with 6 minutes to go and lost another close one in the end by 6 points.

The Freshman team had a successful team building experience in
Oregon. They did not come away with their normal winning record but
considering the high level of competition they played well. They won their
first game by 13 points, lost the next by 12 and lost the last two by 6 and 4 respectively. We are very proud of all the girls for the way they not only played but the way the handled themselves on the whole trip. Special thanks to all the parents that helped with everything, including the driving!

The Sting Freshman Team had a very successful tournament playing in
the Junior Varsity Division at the Newport Beach Tournament. They posted a winning record with 3 victories and 2 defeats. Considering the
high level of play and missing several players, they did an awesome job.

Congratulations to the freshman team for going undefeated in the JV bracket  and winning first place at our home tournament! This team is really starting to learn how to play with each other and can only get better from here.

Our first game was against a very competetive team in the St. Francis Lady Rebels. We finished the game strong and won 56-42. We won the final two games by large margins and everyone got alot of playing time.

The class of 2011 had another very successful tournament in Reno. They went 2 and 1 to place third in the 9th Grade Level 1 Division. The girls beat EDH All Net in their first game, 61-50. They ran up against a very good team in the second game, Paye's Place Varsity. The game got away from them in the second half and lost 49-29. The final game for third place was very exciting against Tri Valley Elite, we were down by 6 points at halftime and the players responded very well to their coaches in the second half, pulling out the victory in the end. The final score was 56-52 Sting!  Awesome way to finish the game girls!
